About the Journal
Mission
Impact Case Reports publishes open-access surgical and peri-operative case reports, short case series, and clinical images that inform patient care. Methodological rigour is more important than headline results. As an independent journal we are building a fairer model for an excellent author experience. All article submissions must include at least one original figure.
Why submit?
A streamlined, format-free submission portal, editor triage within 48 h and a full decision in 14 days keep your work moving. Reviewers and editors receive formal credit, sustaining the rapid expert feedback authors need. Your report sits in a cross-disciplinary forum dedicated to sound methods rather than impact-factor chasing. We follow a continuous publishing model, meaning papers are published in full as received without having to wait for a formal issue.
Scope
We welcome English-language single case reports, small series and image-based cases from all surgical specialties (including obstetrics & gynaecology, ophthalmology) and peri-operative care. Reports should follow CARE guidance and, where applicable, relevant EQUATOR extensions. Randomised trials, economic models and large observational studies belong in our sister titles.
Peer review
Every manuscript is screened by an editor; unsuitable papers are returned within 48 h. The remainder undergo single-blind review by two specialists, with an editorial decision issued inside 14 days. A rapid-acceptance track (decision in ≤36 h) is available for papers that arrive with robust methods, complete reporting and, where relevant, external peer-review reports already addressed.
Formatting
First submissions may ignore journal style: text, figures and tables in any readable format are acceptable. If invited to revise, follow our brief house template to speed final processing.
Hybrid human-AI workflow
A dedicated large-language model assists with plagiarism checks, layout, and language clarity, allowing editors to focus on scientific judgement. All final decisions rest with human editors.
