Instructions to authors
Scope
Impact Case Reports publishes single case reports, short case series (up to two patients) and stand-alone clinical images that add clear value to surgical or peri-operative practice.
Reporting standard
Authors must prepare manuscripts in line with the CARE guideline for clinical case reporting (Riley DS et al. J Clin Epidemiol 2017;89:218-235) and confirm adherence in the cover letter.
Consent
Written informed consent for publication is mandatory. Authors should retain the signed form; the journal may request it at any stage even well after publication.
Case reports and case series
Provide a structured abstract (maximum 250 words) followed by a main text of no more than 500 words organised under Introduction, Case Description, and Discussion. Up to two high-quality clinical images (≥300 dpi) and a maximum of ten references are permitted.
Clinical images
Submit a single figure with a self-contained legend of ≤100 words and no references. The image must be anonymised and of sufficient resolution for print (300DPI).
Submission
Initial submissions need not follow journal styling: clear headings and strict observance of the above word and figure limits are sufficient.
